Tomorrow Michelle and I will begin the 21-day Standard Process Cleanse. A couple of months ago, our friends Tom and Mary O’Dwyer successfully completed it. I heard about it from Tom and began talking to Michelle about us doing it.
We have several reasons to do this cleanse: clean out the toxins in our body, weight loss, kick-start better eating habits for us and our kids and the hope that we’ll feel better physically from the process.
We knew we were going to begin tomorrow, so we wanted to get prepared over the weekend. We read and re-read the Standard Process Cleanse Program Guide, checked out some recipes from Dr. Cindy as well as Mommypotamus and put our shopping list together. We had a busy weekend, and Michelle took the kids to see the musical Oklahoma at a local church, so I volunteered to go to Whole Foods last night.
I had never been to Whole Foods before, but I loved it! It’s definitely more expensive than your typical market but worth it. The cleanse calls for organic whenever possible, so I had a pretty good time finding the organic foods we need. It only took me about two hours! The people that helped me there were great. I’m sure they figured out pretty quickly that I was an organic neophyte.
So with recipes in hand, the food and oils we need and a commitment to do this cleanse together, off we go.
